We at UpBeat Barre feel very strongly about women’s empowerment and women supporting women. We have forged a strong friendship with each other and want to share that love and empowerment with the world!
Last year our girl Maren wrote an Instagram post where she shared a story about elephants that I will share here ...
“In the wild, when a momma elephant is giving birth, all the other female elephants in the herd back around her in formation. They close ranks so the delivering momma cannot even be seen in the middle. They stomp and kick up dirt and soil to throw attacker’s off the scent and in essence act like a pack of fierce body guards.
The elephants surround the momma and incoming baby in protection, sending a clear signal to predators that if they want to attack their friend while she is vulnerable, they’ll have to get through forty tons of female aggression first.
When the baby elephant is delivered, the sister elephants do two things: they kick sand or dirt over the newborn to protect its fragile skin from the sun, and they all start trumpeting, a female celebration of new life, sisterhood, and of something being born in a harsh, wild world despite enemies and attackers.”
I pose the question, when our sisters are vulnerable, giving birth to new life, new ideas, new ministries, new spaces, or when they are under attack do we surround them so they can create, deliver, heal, or recover? Do we close ranks around them in formation, providing the strength for heavy lifting? And when our sister is ready to rise up, do we sound our trumpets and celebrate with her?
I hope the answer is a resounding,
YES! Because women empower and support one another!
We at UpBeat salute and trumpet all the women in the world today!! May we love and support each other always!!
